Donny found a small red caterpillar in the backyard last week. He named it "Furry" (the name of all of his pets lately, real and imaginary). It went everywhere with him (yes, I let it in the house) and got to ride in toy trucks and cars and of course, took a few hundred scenic rides on Donny's train across the bridge and through the tunnel. I had no idea what to feed it but then next day I discovered that he & Marlon had given it a cilantro leaf and some nectarine. I felt like an such an idiot...how may times have I read The Hungry Little Caterpillar? It was very cute to find it the next morning curled up on a half eaten cilantro leaf. Over the course of 2 days he lost it a few times but surprisingly, would find it again, under the tablecloth, in the bathroom, or crossing the railroad tracks. After the second day I decided not to push our luck and let it go. It had survived 2 days with a 3 year old, but who knew for how much longer before it would get smashed or eaten by The Hungry Little Sister?"Furry" was very social. Here he is waving to the camera

Ah, you're such a good mom. ;)
Cute!! Samaya found a green caterpillar and gave it some lettuce and then she took it out the wind came and blew it away. Samaya was so sad when it happened. It's just funny to see how much Donny and Maya have in common. Samaya loves, loves bugs and to ask questions..always, even if she already knows the answer to it:).
So cute. It's amazing how entertained kids can be with the smallest little things. My mother would have freaked if I brought home a caterpillar. She is deathly afraid of them. She freaked when I brought home a silk worm from school for a project, I had to take it back. Her phobia comes from her childhood when these crazy boys would through poisonous caterpillars at her and her sisters. So they all have a really bad phobia of caterpillars.
